This norm also applies to labor relations, therefore employees must be notified of the presence of video surveillance systems of any type (amendments to Article 138 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

And it is best if the relevant acts are adopted, which the staff will familiarize themselves with by signature.

However, even if employees are notified of the presence of video surveillance, the latter may perceive this as an illegal invasion of their privacy. In fact, a person's activities while present at their workplace do not fall under the category of personal life. And the employee will need to prove that the installation of a video surveillance system violates these rights.

Secondly, employees can claim that the installation of video surveillance systems worsens their working conditions.

According to Article 209 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, working conditions are understood to be a set of factors in the production environment and the work process that affect the performance and health of the employee.

The employee must also justify that it was the installation of video cameras that affected his performance, and not a low level of qualification.
