The original Philips Pronto single-handedly created a new class of programmable touchscreen remote controls with an intuitive interface. Today, the concept has evolved into a single control device for your home theater, multimedia and lighting. Combining infrared control with Wi-Fi® wireless connectivity, Pronto truly gives you control in every room.

When creating the latest Pronto, we reached out to installers to learn more about their needs, as well as those of custom-installed system owners. The result is an elegant device that not only allows the user to intuitively control home devices, but also saves the installer valuable time by increasing programming efficiency and reliability.
Wireless Extender
The wireless extender combines the highly reliable Wi-Fi® data transmission technology with the unique Pronto protocol, ensuring complete program integrity and macro synchronization during transmission. This compact device has four separately addressable infrared outputs, allowing you to control different versions of the same device (which is useful, for example, for multi-room systems with several identical TV boxes).
The extender does not require additional configuration, simplifying the integration of Pronto into the home network. One system can include up to 16 extenders.
Serial expander
The improved serial expander has more functions and is supplied in a standard 19-inch rack-mount case.
In addition to four individually addressable infrared ports, it also has four RS232 ports for highly reliable wired control. Four built-in relay outputs are provided to control external equipment such as curtains, cabinet doors or projection screens. The serial expander also has “on-sensitivity” to control “conditional” functions that are turned on and off using the same code.
ProntoEdit Professional — 6 steps in 30 minutes
Pronto is easy to program thanks to the improved ProntoEdit Professional computer editor. Despite the abundance of time-saving functions, the program has retained a familiar look, so that it can be used immediately. Based more on actions than components, this program makes it easy for users to navigate through the simplified menu structure. The new MyDatabase function also allows you to separately store and manage programs for setting up the most frequently used equipment (a function that saves a lot of time by allowing you to avoid the same actions).
Setting up Pronto is now reduced to just six steps* and takes only 30 minutes.

Channel Wizard
One of several wizards built into ProntoEdit Professional, the Channel Wizard reduces the time it takes to configure highly robust channel macros. Now, configuration takes just a few mouse clicks.
To quickly create a macro for a channel, simply enter the channel button, brand name, device type and model number, then set the delay. Channel icons are easy to change using images from the gallery.
Expanded Code Library
Pronto also features a much larger IR code database than before, searching based on model/type numbers rather than brands or codes, making programming much faster. The new database is easy to update, and the unit's IR code learning capability provides an unprecedented 99.99% compatibility. The learning feature uses PC editor software to manage learned codes, and includes a wizard to help you fully learn hardware codes much faster than before, thanks to the Fast Learn feature.
Built-in User Interfaces
Based on the feedback and experience of users and installers, we have developed an intuitive and “reusable” user interface based on actions. To help the user create their own ideal interface, a large number of basic interfaces are included in the editor. These are interfaces for single-room and multi-room systems in both the US and Europe. Simply replace the components of the basic configuration file with the installed components to manage and operate the system. To make the user interface even more intuitive, each action is color-coded so it is easy to recognize in the operating system.
Stunning Design
With its sensational design and stunning colour display, the new Pronto is a real eye-catcher. The smooth front panel and flat display are housed in an ergonomic, soft-touch housing with an elegant metallic finish. The base station/charger glows with a soft white light, and when charging, a red indicator is reflected on the table.
Incredibly Clear Display 3.7-inch touchscreen with incredible 640 x 480 resolution (full VGA), which is not available in any other existing home control device with a touchscreen. Program icons, images and texts are displayed with incredible clarity. In addition, the screen has a very wide viewing angle, combining comfort, convenience and style. The display is covered with a virtually unbreakable protective cover, protecting the touchscreen from damage.
With best-in-class Wi-Fi® wireless connectivity, Pronto is unrivaled in its ability to control appliances throughout the home. This proven RF technology, coupled with Pronto’s unique protocol, ensures precise programming and macro timing. This means that commands are delivered to equipment throughout the home, exactly when they’re needed. For multi-room systems, Pronto works seamlessly with its wireless and serial extenders, increasing user capabilities without the hassle of wires.
Much more than home entertainment control
Media server
The Escient Fireball media server is controlled by a dedicated user interface on the Pronto display. It makes it easy to listen to music away from the TV where the Fireball user interface would normally be displayed.
Combined with the unit’s ergonomic thumbwheel, this not only makes it easy to select tracks and playlists, but also frees up the TV screen for other entertainment. Album art and other information are displayed on the Pronto screen.
Lighting Control
Compatibility with Lutron RadioRa means the Pronto has a full on-screen user interface for controlling lights, shades, and individual dimmers. On-screen feedback from the lighting throughout the home lets the user know whether the lights are currently on or off. Standard mode settings allow you to light the entire room with the desired shade by pressing one button, and there is no need to control individual brightness controls and switches.
