The ABAX security alarm system from the Polish company Satel has been on the market for over two years and is popular with specialists in many countries around the world.
Even at the development stage, ABAX used unique technologies, thanks to which this wireless alarm system remains one of the most advanced security solutions today.
Such innovations include, for example, fully two-way radio communication between ABAX devices, the use of modern low-power processors, as well as encryption of data transmitted between devices, which provides a level of security previously achievable only in traditional wired systems.
The main purpose of ABAX is to expand the capabilities of a wired alarm system of any manufacturer by adding wireless devices from Satel: controllers, security and fire sensors, alarms, etc.
The wireless system is based on ACU-100 controllers, each of which can control up to 48 devices and is configured using an LCD keyboard or a computer.
To configure the controller and the entire ABAX system as a whole, the Russified DLOAD software is used, which is included in the equipment delivery set, and the latest versions of this software can always be downloaded free of charge from the manufacturer's website.
Thanks to the two-way communication in the ABAX system, the controller always confirms the receipt of messages from the sensors, which guarantees the receipt of information to the ACU-100.
In addition, this controller can poll sensors in on-line mode, determining the presence of each device in the system. Using the controller's inputs and outputs, it can be connected to any control panel, thereby expanding the existing fire alarm system.
The priority task of Satel engineers is the constant development of wireless technologies and expansion of the line of devices for the ABAX alarm system.
Thus, in 2008, the combined IR + microwave detector APMD-150 appeared in the company's line of wireless equipment.
Typically, the use of dual technology in wireless systems is either impossible or significantly complicated due to the high energy consumption of the microwave head.
In the case of the ABAX system, the developers found a simple and effective solution — thanks to two-way communication, switching on the microwave head is only allowed when the zone with the detector is armed.
In this case, the microwave sensor is turned on automatically after the IR sensor is triggered, but if the microwave channel does not confirm the alarm signal, the detector will regard this event as a false alarm, and the system will return to the standby mode.
An important place in the ABAX equipment line is occupied by wireless sensors for perimeter protection — magnetic contact and vibration sensors and glass breakage sensors.
All of them are characterized by minimal energy consumption and longer battery life, and the presence of two-way communication in the system allows for remote equipment configuration and significantly simplifies commissioning and maintenance of the system.
To ensure comprehensive protection of the facility, Satel offers two more wireless devices: the ASD-100 smoke and heat detector and the AFD-100 flood sensor.
The ASD-100 sensor is designed for early detection of smoke and fire and is equipped with a photoelectric smoke detector and a temperature sensor, which allows the device to quickly respond to a fire situation.
The flood sensor has a remote probe and is triggered when the water level reaches its electrodes, reporting a leak before the accident leads to serious material damage.
If you need to expand an existing wired fire alarm system with wireless devices, and not a wireless system with wired alarm devices, Satel offers its own solution for this too.
You can use the ACX-200 and ACX-201 wired zone and output expansion modules.
These modules are a good solution in cases where a wireless alarm system needs to be installed in a separate building, such as a garage or workshop.
In such a situation, expanding ABAX with a local wired fire alarm system is not difficult.
When installing the ABAX system, you should carefully select a location for the controller so that all wireless security devices subordinate to it are within the range of the ACU-100.
To ensure the greatest range of radio communication and eliminate the risk of accidental masking of wireless devices by people inside the premises, it is recommended to install the controller and other alarm devices as high as possible.
In this case, several controllers can operate in the zone of one Satel wireless alarm system, and their synchronization is performed in automatic mode.
