STUDY OF THE TACTICAL AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
of the Shakhta-U selective weapon detector
The aim of the present research was to determine the probabilistic characteristics of the selective weapon detector «Shakhta-U» when carrying through a controlled passage simulators: a pistol (IP) and personal use items (PLP).
The metal detector «Shakhta-U» is manufactured by the Russian company TOO «NTC Tochmash». Structurally, it consists of two 1500 mm high stands that are not electrically connected to each other and is designed to screen people indoors (without headgear).

The tests were carried out according to the following methodology.
1. In the controlled passage of the product, nine points were identified, the location of which is shown in Fig. 1.
2. The sought-after search objects were carried through each of the identified points, located in space sequentially in three mutually perpendicular positions, as shown in Fig. 2.
The IP corresponded in characteristics to a PSM-type pistol, and the PLP corresponded to a set of personal metal items with a total weight of 180 g.
The number of passes through each point in each position was ten, and the total number of passes of each object through the metal detector was 270. For each point, the response frequency p* of the product was calculated for 30 passes of the IP and PLP in all three positions.
3. Sensitivity mode 5 was selected.
The product does not provide any options for changing the frequency mode and signal processing mode.
4. Obtained research results.
4.3.1. During the research using the selected methodology, the probability of detecting the IP was 1, and there were no responses from the PLP.
4.3.2. However, the product had two zones in the controlled passage: at a height of about 40 cm and about 140 cm, in which the PLP was triggered across the entire width of the passage except for the center.
