Smartec low-channel video surveillance systems: less is better.
Video surveillance systems with a small number of channels and 4-channel video recorders used to build them have occupied a special niche in the CCTV market. They are in demand among small retail businesses, small cafes, car services, gas stations, as well as end consumers — owners of apartments and cottages. The Smartec line includes a solution that can meet the needs of all these groups — the 4-channel video recorder STR-0485.
The STR-0485 is ideal for small video surveillance systems with high requirements for reliability and recording quality. The STR-0485 comes with Client software for remote viewing, playback and recording settings. It is not necessary to have a local network at the site: the STR-0485 can be connected to a computer network via either 10/100BaseT Ethernet or a modem.
Main Features
STR-0485 records video from 4 TV cameras in MPEG-4 format at a speed of up to 100 images/sec and with a resolution of up to 704×576 pixels, and also provides the ability to record synchronous audio on each channel. The triplex multiplexer functions implemented in it allow simultaneous video recording, playback and transmission of video over the network. Recording parameters are configured individually for each of the 4 channels.
Viewing and searching for video
For the convenience of the operator, algorithms for searching a video fragment by time, event, calendar (including in graphic mode) are provided. Video viewing and playback can be carried out both in full-screen and multi-screen formats. In addition to the main monitor, a Spot monitor can be connected to the DVR.
Recording and archiving
The STR-0485 comes with a 160 GB hard drive and provides the ability to install 1 additional HDD or a CD-RW or DVD-RW drive for selective archiving. Video fragments can also be archived on external drives, for which the DVR has two USB ports.
Video surveillance over the network — Client software
The presence of a built-in web server allows you to view live video over the network, from a standard web browser window. If you plan to only view video over the network, then it is enough to load a standard web browser on any computer connected to the network and enter the IP address of the video recorder. However, the delivery set includes Client software, which allows you to significantly expand the capabilities of network video surveillance. Using this program, the operator can remotely view both live video coming to the video recorder from connected cameras, and video recordings stored on the STR-0485 hard drives. Client works with Windows 98/2000/ME/XP.
For easy video fragment search, you can use the search function by time, calendar, event, system log. When viewing video from a PTZ camera, you can use convenient tools to control pan, tilt, zoom, focus and iris. As with playback control from the front panel of the DVR, there are several modes of fast and slow forward/backward viewing.
Using the Client software, you can remotely configure recording parameters individually for each channel (resolution, speed, audio), set a schedule, and an alarm response scheme. You can also update the internal software of the video recorder and view the archive recorded on CD or DVD. The Client software also allows you to convert video clips and frames into common formats: .avi, .jpg, .bmp – and archive individual video clips.
Drive self-diagnosis mode – S.M.A.R.T.
Support for S.M.A.R.T. technology (Self_Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology, self-diagnostic technology for drives) allows you to continuously monitor the current state of the hard drives on which you are recording. In the event of a threat of failure in the drive (overheating or breakage), the system will warn the operator in advance, and this will help to avoid losing valuable data. If a second HDD is installed, the DVR can operate in mirror recording mode, simultaneously with the current recording, performing backup copying to the second hard drive.
Telemetry
The STR-0485 supports control of PTZ cameras using the front panel buttons. In addition to controlling panning, tilting, zooming, focusing, and iris, the DVR provides the ability to program autopanning and autopatrol modes. All functions for working with PTZ cameras are also available in remote video surveillance mode via Client software.
