#smart home
Today it is impossible to imagine a modern apartment or house without a lot of complex electronic devices.
TV, security system, air conditioner: all this is necessary in a modern home. But controlling the devices often becomes a problem.
Understanding a dozen remote controls lying on the coffee table and finding the right one among them is a daily task for city dwellers.
In a «smart home» system, control of all devices is concentrated in a single remote control or touch panel.
At the same time, the house understands you literally from half a word — one finger press or a verbal command is enough to turn on the light, open the blinds or turn on the TV.
The term «smart home» was invented by the American Institute of Intelligent Building in the 70s of the twentieth century.
In reality, smart homes appeared only in the late 1980s.
The first «smart» offices were created in Mexico in 1986 — in an intelligent office building built by Honeywell in collaboration with Lucent Technologies.
The most famous was the unique house of Bill Gates, which cost him more than $ 100 million.
In Russia, the first integrated automated building management systems appeared only at the beginning of the 21st century.
The main component of a «smart home», its brain, is a single control panel for devices. Without it, the owner of a house stuffed with electronics has to rush from device to device, turning them on and off.
When creating a «smart home», a touch panel is used — a monitor that displays the control buttons for all devices. The buttons can have names, for example — «romantic evening», and it controls several systems at once.
For example, this button provides dim lighting, lowers the curtains and turns on romantic music. The touch panel is usually placed in the office, living room and near the front door in the hall.
These devices can work with different interfaces and integrate seemingly the most incompatible devices.
Universal remote controls go hand in hand with the touch panel: it is necessary that all the systems in the house can be adjusted from any point. Universal remote controls differ from regular remote controls by a large number of buttons and compatibility with all devices controlled by the remote controls.
It is not necessary for all electronics to be from the same manufacturer. In addition, these remote controls usually work in the radio range, which is convenient: you do not need to aim at the device you are turning off, it may not even be in the line of sight.
With the help of a single control system, it is very convenient to control the climate control system in the house.
The required parameters can be maintained separately in each room, depending on individual preferences — temperature, humidity, fresh air flow.
The house will independently create comfortable conditions for sleep — the temperature will rise at night, and drop in the morning. In hot weather, the air conditioner will automatically turn on, and the blinds will go down.
With the help of the panel, you can control all the lighting devices in the house, and, if necessary, receive information about their condition.
The lighting level can be set in different ways: from full heat to night light.
In addition, the bulb can remember its heat level in order to restore it after switching on.
And if you connect motion sensors to the lighting module, this will allow the light to turn on automatically when the owner of the house approaches.
In the same way, the light will turn off if the sensors do not detect movement for a long time: this means that the owner simply forgot to turn off the light.
If necessary, the «smart home» can simulate the presence of the owners in the house — turn on and off the lights when it gets dark in some rooms.
This way, an additional level of security is achieved.
As for the security system itself, it starts with smart locks that are opened with a card or code.
You can also control the locks from the house itself.
In case of a break-in, the security system will send a signal not only to the security structures, but also to a specified phone number.
Thus, the owner of the house will be immediately informed about the situation in the house. Video recording can also be turned on.
The security device is activated by the entrance door sensors or other sensors (smoke, water leakage).
The system can make decisions on its own — call the appropriate services or take measures — shut off the pipes, turn off the electricity.
A smart home can self-learn, that is, the system itself adjusts its own control.
The owner can influence the processes occurring in the house remotely, for example, via mobile communications or the Internet.
For example, he can give an order to a country house to ventilate the premises and fill the pool before the owner arrives.
The system informs the owner about changes in the control process or related to the building itself, especially about those that it cannot cope with on its own.
This applies to force majeure situations such as fire, electrical wiring failure, etc.
The «smart home» system can be used in various buildings: residential, office or industrial. Recently, this system has attracted the interest of consumers.
However, a systemic approach to intelligent home management is rarely used.
Basically, practical application comes down to controlling various household appliances using remote controls and using a security system.
But the development of technology is such that a «smart home» can become your reality.
