SFITEX 2007.
By tradition, the XVI International Forum «Security and Safety — Sfitex 2007» was held in early November.
It's time to sum it up and congratulate the participants and organizers of the forum on its successful completion. Undoubtedly, a lot of time and effort was spent on its organization, the result of which was an increase in the scale of the forum compared to previous years.
The grand opening of the forum took place on November 6. The distinguished guests of Sfitex 2007 were V.G. MATYUKHIN — Head of the Russian Information Agency, T.V. PARAMONOVA — Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the National Banking Council, M.V. MOTSAK — Assistant to the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Northwestern Federal District, A.Y. OBUKHOV — Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control, A.V. RUCHYEV — Head of the FSB Department of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, A.G. IVANOV — Head of the Main Directorate for Civil Defense and Emergencies of St. Petersburg, E.G. TSIVIRKO — Chairman of the Committee for Informatization and Communications of the Government of St. Petersburg.
Sfitex 2007 gathered under its roof thousands of specialists from different countries of the world and Russian cities. According to rough estimates, about 2000 people from 300 Russian and foreign companies took part in this year's forum, more than 50% of them are regular participants, however, there are also many new companies, among which we would like to note the foreign participants: NAFFCO-DUBAI, Kodicom CO (Korea), Schleicher SICHERHEITSSYSTEME (Germany), Apollo Fire Detectors (Great Britain), Digital Identification Solutions AG (Germany), Eusebi Impianti (Italy), JABLOTRON (Czech Republic), Olencom Electronics (Israel), TYCO FIRE & BUILDING PRODUCTS (Netherlands).
According to the qualitative composition of the participants, 30% are middle and senior managers, 39% are sales managers, 31% — specialists in various fields: engineers, designers, planners, etc. Among the participants, companies with a staff of no more than 100 people predominate.
As in previous years, the leading event of the forum was the Sfitex 2007 exhibition, within the framework of this exhibition three specialized exhibitions were held:
TS – Technical means of ensuring safety;
FS – Emergency and rescue means. Systems and means of ensuring fire safety;
IS – Systems and means of information protection and special technical means.
According to the results of the survey conducted at the exhibition, technical means of ensuring security (70% of respondents) were of particular interest to the participants, while emergency rescue equipment (16%) and information security systems and means (14%) were approximately at the same level. However, compared to previous years, the number of companies working in the field of information security has increased. Almost all newcomers in this field were presented at the closed exposition of STS: SET-1, Komin, KB Jupiter, Nevaton, Svemel, Yurion.
We were pleased with the variety of stands of such leaders of Russian and foreign business as Pentacon Corporation, Louis+ North-West, ITV, Ravelin, Armo-Petersburg, Acumen (Lipetsk), Si-Nord, Fujinon, Honeywell, etc. Each company found its own way to intrigue and attract visitors. PENTAKON Corporation, the general sponsor of the Forum, traditionally presented a beautifully equipped stand with its digital security system VideoNet, which is the only Russian system of its kind. Ravelin, the sponsor of Sfitex 2007, also pleased visitors with a well-equipped two-story stand. A completely unexpected and original design was at the stand of ITV, which presented new solutions for specialists aimed at comprehensive security of industry facilities from 4 partner companies, each of which presented its product created on the basis of intelligence. The Argus-Spectr company presented 6 new products at the Sfitex 2007 exhibition: the Orfey-R wireless voice notification system, the UOO-GSM-C1 (UOP-AB-GSM) final object (panel) device for automatic dialing via GSM channel, the ARM STRELETS® software, the Ikar-7 optical-electronic volumetric security alarm, the Arfa-2 surface sound alarm, and the Ikar-6 optical-electronic volumetric security alarm. The stand of the Louis+ North-West company pleased with its colorfulness and originality, offering visitors a huge selection of security products in a colorful design, mini-models of the products on display, and even the opportunity to play chess “here and now”. At the stand of the Russian Weapon company, visitors were given a unique opportunity to try their hand at shooting. And, of course, we cannot fail to mention the huge armored vehicle of the Laura company (the weight of the vehicle is 3 tons).
In addition to the huge selection of products and a large number of original designs of the participants' stands, much attention was paid to actively attracting visitors to the stand using advertising and PR methods. The Andromeda holding company worked in this direction at its stand: a whole PR campaign was organized with the participation of numerous artists, each with their own number, it was a whole show throughout the day. Quite active work was carried out at stand C10.1, in addition to the fact that it was a brightly presented stand at the end of the central passage, music was constantly playing here, creating an excellent atmosphere at the exhibition.
The fire theme of the exhibition was quite widely represented. The Gefest Group of Companies presented a finely atomized water sprinkler that saves water, which is especially relevant now, when they strive to minimize water consumption in construction and production. The Rosevro Company presented unique aerosol-powder fire extinguishing systems, which are the most universal means of fighting fire. They eliminate fires of almost all flammable substances by surface, volumetric and local methods. The FER Engineering Center for Fire Robotics presented the developments of barrel fire-fighting equipment and robotics. WestCom presented its new automatic fire protection system Panteon-APPZ, which allows monitoring the fire situation for a large group of objects, transmitting information to the control panel, and controlling various technological equipment. Despite the novelty of the development, the Panteon APPZ system has already been installed in 47 residential buildings (new and under reconstruction) in St. Petersburg.
Summing up the results of the exhibition participants, I would like to note that 70% of the surveyed companies achieved the goal of their participation in the exhibition and only 1% answered «no». In relation to established business contacts, 45% are completely satisfied with the business activity of visitors and the established relationships, 52% are partially satisfied and only 3% did not get what they wanted.
The business program of the exhibition was quite active. More than 40 events were held, the II scientific and practical conference «Big City Security» was held, the main topic of which was «Security of Tourism and Tourist Activities». Seminars on information protection did not go unnoticed: «Main Directions of State Policy on Technical Information Protection» (NOU DPO «SZTsKZI») and «Principles of Comprehensive Information Protection» (OMEGA Agency). The V International scientific and practical conference was also held within the framework of the forum: «Certification Authority Services. New Areas of PKI Application».
On November 9, the results of the innovative products competition «Benchmark of Safety» were summed up. The Forum's competition committee carefully studied the products of the companies that applied to participate in the innovative products competition «Benchmark of Safety». This year, 37 products were nominated for the competition. A new addition was the addition of another nomination of the competition: «Best Product of a Foreign Manufacturer». And according to the results of the competition, the winners in various nominations were:
