The Crystal Service company, which operates in the Russian trade automation market, has introduced a new version of the SET Prisma event video monitoring system. The fifth version of the system supports Linux and MySQL, which allows for lower video monitoring costs due to server and database licenses. Another new feature of the system is the scanner technology, which allows for further advancement in the automation of security service work.
The support for Linux and MySQL implemented in the new version of SET Prisma is part of the long-term policy of Crystal Service to reduce the cost of owning its own software products. «The cost of software today worries the management of any retail enterprise. After all, the larger the retail facility, the more the retailer spends on licenses,» says Alexander Zubov, head of the SET Prisma department. «That is why the first to show interest in the new version were networks with hypermarkets. It is not surprising, because with a settlement node for 50 cash registers, SET Prisma 5 allows you to save 15 thousand dollars in each hypermarket.»
The operation of SET Prisma is based on the principle of synchronizing the video sequence with «events». «Events» are signals from various equipment. In order to record an «event», for example, some action of the cashier, SET Prisma must record information about it in the database. If the video surveillance system uses Microsoft products, then for all cash desks and even anti-theft gates that are connected to it, a client access license for Microsoft SQL Server will be required. In addition, Microsoft Windows Server licenses for the video server and event server will be required. Support by the SET Prisma 5 system of freely distributed Linux and MySQL allows you to do without these licenses.
Another task that the developers set for the new version of SET Prisma was to simplify the work of security analysts. In the fifth version of the system, the knowledge base is implemented in the form of pre-installed filters. This allows you to automatically sort all suspicious events. All routine work is removed from the analyst.
However, SET Prisma 5 can detect violations without human intervention at all. This opportunity is provided by another new feature of the fifth version of the system — scanner technology. Scanners independently process events already sorted by filters and automatically detect thefts and cashier errors. The developers of the system managed to combine general patterns of theft and the individual characteristics of each retail enterprise. Therefore, scanners analyze not only general patterns, but also statistics of various events in a specific store. This approach allows you to identify violations with very high accuracy, and only the final decision still remains with the security officer. |
