Interview with I.K. Filonenko, Executive Director of the Security Technologies Forum, President of the Security Industry Association

— The Security Technologies Forum is one of the leaders in the Russian exhibition market. In your opinion, why did he achieve such success?
— In my opinion, the advantage of the Security Technologies Forum is that we listened sensitively to how the market was developing, understood and knew its players, were aware of its needs, and thus created a good and high-quality market infrastructure for this market. Do not forget that the Security Industry Association, which was founded several years ago by the largest participants of the Forum, is a great help not only for the Forum, but also for the entire security market. It has become a very important information bridge of our market with the largest international and national industry unions. Largely thanks to the efforts of the Association, this year the exhibition was visited by the heads of a number of the world's largest associations and companies working in the field of security in the world. Security Technologies Forum — this is an event that brings together tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, law enforcement officers, engineers, experts on the first Tuesday of February in Moscow not only to look at new equipment, but also so that at the very beginning of the new year, in anticipation of increased sales activity and installation equipment in the field of modern products and services “to compare notes”, “to feel out” trends, technological trends that will be in demand not only here, but also in neighboring territories. Our exhibition is actively visited by representatives of the CIS, Baltic and other countries. The forum, among other things, is a platform for meeting friends and colleagues, and we really value this aspect of the project.

— This year “Security Technologies” turns 13 years old. Tell us, how has the Forum changed over the years and what has contributed to its stable development?
— The history of the Forum testifies to its constant progressive development. Over 13 years, it was visited by more than a hundred thousand security industry specialists, the exposition increased more than 6 times, the number of participants — 5. Under the auspices of the Security Technologies exhibition, more than 200 industry conferences and seminars were held. The forum brought into its orbit representatives of ministries and departments, managers and specialists of enterprises, public organizations, journalists from leading industry and mass publications. And the circle of specialists taking part in our event is constantly growing.

— What's new in the business program of the Security Technologies 2008 Forum?
— All conferences and seminars that we have been involved in for many years will receive further development. We are trying to benefit as much as possible from the experience and knowledge of our colleagues working with national and international security associations and our colleagues at Reed Exhibitions to further improve the program. We will combine some of the events into themes. This way, our visitors will be able to participate not only in the traditional “Safety Day”, but also “Installer Day” and “Oil and Gas Industry Day”. A number of topics for international conferences are currently being agreed upon. At this stage of the preparation of the Forum, we have reached the finish line and every new day brings new information, therefore, in order not to mislead readers, I recommend that they browse the Forum website tbforum.ru. I am sure that every specialist will find something useful and interesting for themselves at the Forum. Prepared by Maria Kozlyaeva, PR manager of the Security Technologies Forum
