Samsung Techwin is stepping up its efforts to achieve a leading position.
Samsung Techwin is one of the fastest growing companies in the CCTV market. This is the reason for the great interest of video surveillance specialists in everything related to this company.
Samsung Techwin is part of the world-famous Samsung group of companies, as well as Samsung Electronics, which is quite widely represented in Russia. Both companies are absolutely independent and conduct independent production and distribution policies. This article tells about the history of the development of Samsung Techwin, its specialization, understanding of the mission in the field of security television and differences from other market participants.
Samsung Techwin made a name for itself in the mid-1970s, when it successfully mastered the production of aircraft engine components and began supplying them to such world-famous manufacturers as Rolls Royce and Pratt&Wittney. The success of this project was so great that a relatively small division of Samsung related to aviation received the status of an independent company and the name Techwin (short for Technical Winner). Currently, Samsung Techwin produces dozens of modifications of turbines for various purposes, including aviation, and supplies them to almost all leading Western manufacturers of military and civil aircraft.
Military topics occupy a significant place in Samsung Techwin's business. Since the early 1990s, the company has been producing armored vehicles and heavy self-propelled howitzers for the armies of some NATO countries and most countries in the Asia-Pacific region. This has further strengthened Samsung Techwin's reputation as one of the leading manufacturers of defense and security equipment.
Since 1985, Samsung Techwin has been producing surface mounting machines for the manufacture of printed circuit boards and simultaneously producing its own integrated circuits. Thus, to date, this company is part of the club of a few developers and manufacturers of their own DSP (Digital Signal Processor), which are used in almost all products of Samsung group companies.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the company's management realized that in the conditions of the constant growth of terrorist and criminal threats, the issues of ensuring the security of administrative and commercial facilities, life and property of individuals come to the fore. By this time, Samsung Techwin was well prepared to start manufacturing equipment for television surveillance systems. The main concept of the company was to achieve the highest level of quality and reliability of the supplied products. They had to meet the “defense” standard of all other products. It was necessary to mobilize the engineering potential of the company. Moreover, a fundamental decision was made to manufacture all CCTV components at its own factories located in Korea. In this way, Samsung Techwin products are fundamentally different from many consumer electronics products sold in Russia under the Samsung brand and standardly manufactured at numerous and nameless factories in China.
In a short period of time, Samsung Techwin has mastered the production of all major CCTV components: lenses, fixed and high-speed dome analog and Samsung IP cameras, thermal imaging cameras, switches and keyboard controllers, digital and network recorders, multifunctional PTZ devices, integrated video monitoring software. In the following, we will dwell on each product family in more detail.
In terms of quality and variety of products supplied, Samsung Techwin occupies a worthy place in the upper segment of the CCTV market along with such well-known manufacturers as BOSCH, PELCO, Panasonic. The undoubted advantage of the company's products is their fairly democratic prices, typical of Korean-made equipment, allowing it to be positioned in the middle price segment of the television surveillance market.
Samsung Techwin continues to increase its efforts to achieve leading positions in the security market. Every year the company introduces 30-40 new products, masters related areas: technological video surveillance, robotic border protection, access control systems, radio frequency identification. Despite the global crisis, Samsung Techwin opens offices in the largest countries of Europe and Asia. Since spring 2009, the Moscow representative office of Samsung Techwin has begun work. It will be engaged in business development in Russia and the CIS and is called upon to provide qualitatively higher support to partners and clients, regularly inform them about new equipment, implement a flexible pricing policy and conduct technical trainings and seminars.
A company ready to meet the financial and production hurricane will soon win its rightful place in the Russian security market.
