Resource-saving 6-channel video servers AXIS Q7406 H.264/M-JPEG with transmission of 25 fps at 4CIF on each channel.

The new Q7406 Blade six-channel video servers from AXIS Communications convert analog video signals from TV cameras into digital video and then transmit high-density video over an IP network. They can simultaneously transmit three individually configurable digital video streams per channel at a frequency of 25 fps at a resolution of up to 720 x 576 pixels, using both the traditional M-JPEG compression format and the most economical H.264. In addition, these IP video servers are equipped with motion detection, 6 alarm inputs/outputs, record alarm video to a 64 MB video buffer and can be controlled via a web browser or AXIS Camera Station software.

AXIS Q7406 can work simultaneously with 6 analog cameras, including PTZ cameras, and video signal processing for each channel is performed by a separate ARTREC-3 processor of the latest generation with its own RAM and flash memory of 128 MB. Since the video server is implemented as a separate board (blade), for its installation it is necessary to use an AXIS 291 1U rack-rack, designed for installation of up to three Q7406 devices, or a Q7900 rack, which holds up to 14 AXIS Q7406 boards and is used in creating multi-channel IP security video surveillance systems. In this case, both rack-racks can be mounted in 19-inch mounting cabinets. The video servers are connected to the 1000BaseT Ethernet network via RJ-45, and remote access to them is provided via the built-in web server.

Supports highly economical H.264 compression algorithm
Thanks to the use of the progressive H.264 compression algorithm, which reduces the «weight» of the video stream by up to 80% compared to the Motion JPEG format and up to 50% compared to MPEG-4 with the same video quality, the Q7406 is capable of transmitting multi-stream video that is 2 times smaller in size, including over low-speed communication channels. The use of H.264 means that these video servers are less demanding on the channel bandwidth and the size of the computer's HDD allocated for storing the video archive.

Fine-tuning image parameters before encoding
High quality of digital image with Q7406 is also achieved by adjusting most video parameters. To improve the quality of the image from the camera before converting it to digital format, you can adjust the color, brightness, contrast and saturation of the image. In addition, Q7406 provides the ability to rotate the image by 90°, 180° or 270°, perform aspect ratio correction, and overlay text, pictures or a protective mask on the image. To remove the interlacing effect, the video server uses a special filter.

Control of 25 models of PTZ cameras from various manufacturers
Unlike earlier models, AXIS Q7406 can control 25 models of analog PTZ cameras from brands such as American Dynamics, Bosch, Panasonic, Pelco, Philips, Samsung, Sony and Smartec, whose telemetry receivers are connected to the video server via the RS-485 interface. In addition, Q7406 allows you to control PTZ cameras using the AXIS 295 joystick, with a USB interface and 12 programmable buttons.

Selecting software for managing Q7406 and working with video streams
To access the AXIS video server and its video from any remote computer connected to the IP network, you can use a standard web browser. When creating a multi-channel IP video system, it is advisable to install specialized software from AXIS on your PC, such as AXIS Camera Management or AXIS Camera Station. It allows you to set up and configure video servers, as well as view video streams in real time, record them to your PC's hard drive, search for and play video from the archive. For large-scale IP video surveillance systems, you can use the more powerful XProtect software from the Danish company Milestone.

Advanced network capabilities and open architecture
Q7406 Blade supports most network protocols, including HTTP, FTP, UPnP, NTP, TCP, UDP, RTP, etc., which ensure quick configuration and reliable operation of devices in an IP network. To protect information from unauthorized access, you can use a password system, IP address filtering, user access log and HTTPS encryption. Thanks to the open API interface, you can integrate video servers into various software applications.

Video server response settings for alarms from a motion detector and external security sensors
Q7406 is equipped with a hardware motion detector with adjustable sensitivity and alarm inputs for security sensors, so it can instantly respond to alarm situations at the video surveillance site. Q7406 records all video frames preceding and following the alarm signal to an internal 64 MB video buffer. With the appropriate settings, alarm video can be uploaded to FTP or HTTP servers, and alarm notifications can be sent to specified email addresses.
