Reliability of an electronic lock on the front door

Today, an electronic lock for the front door clearly demonstrates advantages over mechanical ones, and more and more people, installing, for example, a new front door, give preference to it. As practice has shown, the risk of opening an entrance door protected by a mechanical lock is much higher than an electronic one. The electronic lock for the entrance door is designed in such a way that it is quite difficult for a criminal to recognize where the door lock block is located without special equipment. The possibility of mechanical impact and damage to such a lock is minimal. Electronic door lockeliminates the need to carry keys, which are often lost (this is especially true for children, although it happens to everyone else too. You need to remember the numeric code to open the door. Since this code will be extremely difficult for an intruder to guess (with a password of 4 characters, we get 10,000 possible combinations), electronic door lockvery difficult to open. Such locks can be easily included in the security system, that is, integrated with the security alarm. Having installed such a lock on the door, you should always remember several important rules: never write the access code from the electronic key on paper; use a password of different numbers and do not use «popular» combinations (date of birth — yours and your loved ones, passport number); do not give the password to anyone except those who must be able to enter the home; the password must be changed (for your safety) at least once every six months. Below we will consider electronic locks in more detail.

Electronic combination lock
Electronic combination lockis a lock that requires a sequence of characters (code) to be entered to open it. This code combination is stored in the memory of the electronic unit and is usually entered from the keyboard. Electronic code lock is designed for remote door opening by sending an electric signal and is used in conjunction with intercoms, code panels, card readers of various types and other access control devices. There are two types of electric code locks: with an electromechanical drive and electromagnetic.  Electronic code lockwith a magnet holds the door closed by the force of a powerful electromagnet. An electromechanical combination lock has a mechanical bolt that holds the door closed, and this bolt is controlled by a relatively low-power solenoid. Electromagnetic locks are much more reliable and easier to manufacture, since, unlike electromechanical locks, they do not have moving parts. Electronic combination lockhas the following basic operating principle: when it is closed, the bolt (spring) is cocked, and it opens automatically by pressing the programmed buttons. In order to increase secrecy, it is recommended to encode at least 3 buttons and recode them every year, preventing the buttons themselves from being erased.

Invisible electronic locks
The most reliable and hidden locks today are, of course, invisible electronic locks. Such locks also do not have a keyhole, but, unlike code locks, they do not have a keyboard. The invisible lock is opened using a special electronic key, which is a radio key fob or a PROXIMITY card. Invisible electronic locks are completely hidden from the eyes of the intruder. In order for a burglar to be able to find and saw through two 18 mm thick metal rods that form the basis of the lock, which are also inserted into the door frame by 37 mm, it will be necessary to spend a lot of time and use bulky auxiliary equipment and invent new burglar methods. Practice shows that even the most experienced burglars cannot open such a lock, nor even detect its location and model. Such locks are suitable for installation on all known types of doors (steel, safe doors, wood, aluminum, as well as various types of fire doors). In combination with a metal door, such a lock provides the most reliable protection against burglary and penetration.
