It is known that the term CCTV covers not only security systems, but also technological television surveillance, as well as remote object monitoring systems. Despite the general principles of creating these systems, there are characteristic differences regarding the requirements for operational characteristics and the design of system elements.
Indeed, the operating conditions of CCTV equipment at industrial facilities differ significantly from the conditions that exist at civilian facilities. Here, first of all, the television camera, which is an element of the system, must have a special design that guarantees reliable operation throughout its entire service life.
It should be noted that among the players in the security television market there are not many companies engaged in the development and production of equipment for use at industrial facilities. One of these companies is Pelco (USA), which occupies a leading position in the global CCTV market.
This publication is an overview of Pelco solutions for television surveillance systems for industrial facilities.
When talking about the possibility of using a particular model of a TV camera as a source of image formation for a monitoring, security or technological surveillance system of an industrial facility, it is necessary to take into account the following main operational characteristics: temperature, humidity, and the composition of the environment.
Pelco produces a large number of special housings and accessories that can protect the electronics and optical elements of TV cameras from the effects of aggressive environments, as well as high and low temperatures.
A typical example of such housings are the EH8100 series models. They have a tubular design and are made of aluminum alloy with a polyester powder coating. The EH8100 series housings can be hermetically sealed and filled with dry nitrogen under pressure at the installation site, which prevents contamination from entering the camera and lens parts. Thus, a high degree of protection is achieved — IP68.

To prevent excessive pressure in the casing, a safety valve is used. The operating temperature range of the casings is from -40 to +50 degrees C.
In turn, the E706SS casing models E706 series are made of 304 stainless steel and have a higher resistance to the aggressive effects of acids in the atmosphere of a number of chemical and metallurgical industries, and can also be used in marine conditions. The casings have dust and moisture protection IP54. This indicator can be increased in the case of purging the casing with purified compressed air through special built-in fittings.

In conditions where hydrofluoric acid is present, which corrodes the viewing glass of the housing, or in rooms with a high content of dust and small particles, Pelco recommends using a specially designed air funnel. A funnel with purge holes is installed on the glass of the housing. Thus, the supply of filtered compressed air continuously cleans the glass from settling particles.
For production with increased requirements for explosion safety of electrical devices and installations, Pelco produces enclosures of the EHX series. EHX enclosures have an explosion-proof shell design with various standard sizes, which allows you to install almost any TV camera and lens.

The housing of the EHX series enclosures is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy 6061T6, which allows them to be used even in marine conditions.
Pelco's line of rotary platforms for installing television cameras in industrial facilities is no less impressive. These devices are equipped with high-torque AC motors and adjustable worm gear main drives, ensuring a long service life and backlash-free operation. Pelco manufactures rotary platforms of the PT1260EX series especially for explosive production facilities and for installation in aggressive environments. The body of the devices in this series is made of anodized sheet aluminum. All internal and external parts are made of steel or aluminum with anti-corrosion treatment. All fasteners are made of stainless steel.

The pinnacle of Pelco's technical innovation in the field of industrial surveillance systems are the specialized dome cameras Spectra Pressurized and Spectra Stainless Steel, as well as the ExSite series of cameras.
Challenging the established stereotype that a high-speed dome camera is a means for urban security systems, Pelco produces Spectra Pressurized cameras.These cameras are capable of operating in the most severe conditions — high and low temperatures (from -51 to +60 degrees C), increased dust and fine particles (IP68), exposure to corrosive gases in the atmosphere (stainless steel housing). Spherical housing Spectra Pressurizedeasily filled with dry nitrogen to a pressure of 55 kPa before or after installation to stabilize the internal environment of the system. Sensors located inside the camera housing send a signal message in the event of exceeding the pressure value inside the housing, temperature or dew point. The listed parameters are displayed on the operator's monitor screen. Image transmission and camera control can be carried out via a twisted pair (the transmitter is built-in) or an optical cable (optional), which guarantees high noise immunity in often difficult, relatively electromagnetic interference, production conditions.
The camera itself can have one of 5 optical units (optical magnification 16X, 18X, 22X, 23X, 35X) and is equipped with «day-night» and LowLight technology, which compensate for insufficient illumination of the object. Built-in electronic image stabilization performs digital processing to reduce image blurring resulting from the presence of external sources of industrial frequency vibration.
The camera's integrated drive allows for variable scanning speeds from a fast panning speed of 400 degrees per second to a smooth «creeping» speed of 0.1 degrees per second. The system is designed for continuous 360-degree rotation, and also features an «auto-flip» feature that allows the camera to rotate 180 degrees and reposition itself to provide continuous tracking of any object that passes directly under the dome.
Pelco's Spectra Stainless Steel Series Cameraswith a 316 stainless steel housing are designed for harsh environments and meet NEMA Type 4X and IP66 standards. The dome of the camera features a stainless steel trim ring and is made of optically clear acrylic polymer. Spectra Stainless Steel cameras have features similar to Spectra Pressurized.
The ExSite series cameras are truly versatile.These are all-wheel drive (remote control of pan and tilt) high-resolution cameras with a powerful optical unit (optical zoom 22X or 23X) with day-night and LowLight technology. They are capable of operating throughout their entire service life in the harshest temperature conditions from -60 to +60 degrees C. In case of icing, the system will be cleared of ice and prepared for operation within two hours after switching on at a temperature not lower than -25 ° C. The 316L stainless steel housing provides the ability to operate ExSite series camerasin all environmental conditions, including marine. Finally, the design of these cameras meets the most stringent explosion-proof requirements. The ExSite series of cameras is optionally equipped with a windshield wiper. The windshield wiper is completely integrated into the housing and does not obstruct the camera's field of view. All cameras also have three auxiliary relay outputs that can be programmed for different purposes. The ExSite series of devices has system memory built into the power module for storing camera settings and local pan/tilt settings, including marks, patterns, and zones. These settings are loaded automatically when a new pan/tilt unit is installed.

It is worth noting that Pelco, having its own modern metalworking production, is able to meet customer requirements, constantly upgrading and improving the performance of the devices. All devices have Russian certificates of conformity, including explosion safety.
