Modern technology of pipeline installation.
In a modern building, be it an office, a factory, a residential building, a cottage, there are many systems that form its infrastructure, including an automatic fire extinguishing system and a water supply system. SNiP 41?02-2003 and Code of Practice 5.13130.2009 recommend the use of coupling fittings, but the choice of the type of pipes and their connections is selected by the designer, based on the installation capabilities and the final cost.
The most common type of pipeline connection is welded connections, which are non-detachable. Their main disadvantage is that these connections require fire work, which is not always possible, and if it is possible, it leads to a stop in the operation of the installation object, and as a result, to losses due to the loss of valuable time. The use of a flange connection, which is detachable, will not eliminate such limitations of use, since it also requires welding (connection of the flange to the pipe). Moreover, during installation, the problem of centering the holes arises, and when the space for placing the connection is limited, using a flange becomes difficult.
The detachable threaded connection is reliable and does not require welding, however, it is limited to the area of application for pipes with a nominal diameter of up to 50 mm, and high-quality installation requires a certain skill from the worker.
Coupling detachable connections are a modern technology for installing pipelines, which do not have such limitations of application and have a number of advantages over other types of connections. The main difference of the product is reliability and durability, which is why they are currently gaining more and more popularity all over the world. In the West, for example, the entire installation of fire extinguishing systems is completely carried out on couplings. Until recently, they were not widespread in Russia only because of their high cost and complexity of delivery, since they were produced only abroad. But now the enterprise ZAO PO Spetsavtomatika (Biysk) has mastered the serial production of detachable pipeline couplings «Fast Lock» with a nominal bore from 25 to 150 mm, meeting the requirements of GOST R 51737 2001, which is confirmed by a fire safety certificate.
Connecting pipelines using the Fast Lock coupling, which consists of two half couplings, a cuff and bolted connections, allows you to reduce costs by carrying out installation work in the shortest possible time (the time is reduced by 2 times) and without stopping the operation of the installation site. To install pipelines using Fast Lock, grooves are rolled on the pipes using special equipment, then only a minimum of tools are required — a set of wrenches (Figure 1).
Such easy installation and dismantling of connections allows to assemble complex pipeline layouts and significantly simplifies repair and maintenance of pipelines. Systems installed using coupling connections are reliable and durable: the connections have been tested and verified many times, are designed for working pressure up to 1.6 MPa and can be used indoors and outdoors in the temperature range from minus 30 to 150° C.
Moreover, coupling connections can be used both on straight sections of the pipeline and on sections that have deviations from the axis or are subject to linear (along the pipe axis) compression and tension and angular bending during operation under the influence of pressure surges and temperature changes.
