LONMARK International is a non-profit organization and is open to all interested in developing the open interoperability market. For over a decade, LONMARK International has been developing and publishing interoperability guidelines, the so-called Interoperability Guidelines, to promote the independent development of products that can be easily connected to each other.

The association's activities also include testing devices for compliance with interoperability requirements and their certification. The LONMARK Certification Tool (LCT) developed by the association significantly simplifies the product certification process. These Internet-based tools allow developers to test and certify products directly at their premises. Due to their effectiveness, LCTs are often used during development as auxiliary tools to check products for compatibility and communication characteristics with other products. Immediately after release, a product can be quickly tested for compliance with interoperability standards and certified. Products that have passed certification are entitled to an individual LONMARK logo.

Only this logo is evidence that a given product has successfully passed all compatibility tests. Open LONMARK systems guarantee free choice of products, the ability to use the best products available on the market, plug-and-play functionality, and low production and installation costs.
LONMARK International has over 350 members. Members include leading industrial manufacturers, distributors, systems integrators, consulting firms, designers, developers, engineers, users and individuals.

Membership in LONMARK International means different things to different people. There are four forms of membership:
SPONSOR
– Leading representatives who actively contribute to the success of LONMARK and provide financial support to the market.
PARTNER
– Manufacturers who produce LONMARK-certified products and participate in technical issues and marketing activities.
ASSOCIATE

– Associate members are not manufacturers. They are groups of distributors, system integrators, consulting firms, designers, developers, and end users.
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS
(INDIVIDUELLE)
– Persons interested in solving technical issues, as well as in marketing activities.

Compared to the previous 2005, the number of LONMARK members has increased by almost 30%. LONMARK branches are already active in Denmark, France, Italy, Switzerland and Great Britain. Today, LONMARK branches are being organized and developed in Australia, China, Germany, Korea, Russia and Singapore (information about LonMark Russia can be found on the website lonwork.ru).

New Program
Certification of Specialists
LONMARK International has developed a new program for certification and attestation of specialists in open LONMARK systems. According to preliminary data, the program will be in effect in November 2006.

The new specialist certification program is a multi-stage, standardized certification program with support for national languages: those wishing to obtain a LONMARK certificate of one level or another can take a qualification test online.
There are currently two certification levels: LONMARK Certified Professional and LONMARK Certified Integrator. The LONMARK Certified Professional certification demonstrates that a professional has basic knowledge of LON technology. This certification level is ideal for network integrators in the HVAC, lighting, security, and building automation industries, as well as for engineers.

The LONMARK Certified Integrator certification is designed for companies that have practical experience in LON technology and at least one certified professional on their team.

In the future, it is planned to develop other certification levels for the certification of installers and technicians, as well as specialists in certain areas, such as, for example, industrial integration, advanced system architecture or advanced system diagnostics.

As part of the Hi-Tech House exhibition, you will have the opportunity to ask all your questions directly to a LONMARK representative when visiting the association's stand or the awards ceremony for the winners of the competition for the best publication in the field of building automation, which will take place on November 11 from 15:30 in Conference Hall No. 1, where LONMARK, as a sponsor of the competition, will make a short presentation.
