#perimeter alarm
Integrated security system for a cottage village.
Most city dwellers strive to escape from the noisy, dusty city closer to nature and for this purpose they buy dachas. A shack on a small piece of land, a wooden hut with dill in the beds and crispy cucumbers in the greenhouse, a gingerbread house in the shade of an apple orchard, a spacious, like a royal chamber, stone house with a plot — a football field — dachas come in different varieties, but all their owners are united by one problem — uninvited guests. It also concerns the most comfortable dachas — cottage villages. Beautiful houses, smooth asphalt, parking, lanterns, mown lawns and picturesque landscapes. In order for people to feel calm in this fabulous corner, it is necessary to ensure security. It is achieved by various technical means: engineering and automatic. First of all, the territory of the village is fenced along the perimeter. It is not necessary to build high concrete walls, giving the village the appearance of an impregnable fortress. To mark the border beyond which the protected territory begins, a regular fence is enough. Reinforced barbed tape (RBT) is a reliable and inexpensive option, it scares off potential violators with its appearance alone: it is not immediately overcome and threatens scratches and wounds. But RBT is good for industrial facilities, and when equipping cottage villages with security systems, it is often abandoned for aesthetic reasons. In this case, it makes sense to opt for a fence made of welded metal mesh.
Using security sensors to protect the perimeter is not always advisable — it is not cheap, and false alarms are possible. Detectors can react to trees growing near the fence, the branches of which will sway in strong winds, animals, birds, changes in air temperature, rain and snowfall. According to experts, in order to reduce the number of false alarms, several (at least two) detection devices should be used, operating on the basis of different technologies. For example, a radio beam detector working in tandem with a vibration detector. Other combinations are also possible: a radio beam and active infrared sensors, a passive infrared in combination with a single-position microwave, etc. When installing detectors, do not forget that, for example, radio wave devices cannot be used near metal structures. And the diameter of the sensitivity zone of two-position beam radio wave devices can be 5-10 m in relation to a person — it is not always possible to organize an alienation zone of such a width along the perimeter of a cottage village.
Active infrared sensors have a very narrow band (line) of sensitivity, so they themselves and the wires leading to them are accessible from outside the protected area and must be well protected from sabotage. Passive infrared sensors are extremely prone to false alarms on a sunny day, although they have good protection at night.
Perhaps the best way to combat false alarms is video verification. Of course, you can oblige the security guard to go out to the territory every time and see what happened to this or that sensor. But even the most disciplined security guard on a rainy autumn night or in a snowstorm can easily convince himself that there was no alarm signal. Video surveillance solves this problem — just look at the screen. Moreover, in many cases a high-quality video surveillance system can be completely trusted with the perimeter protection function.
If possible, video cameras are mounted in such a way that their viewing area covers the territory not only inside the facility, but also outside. Then the intruder will be detected even before he enters the protected area. The signal from the video cameras is transmitted to the control center located on the territory of the village. It is better to use cameras with motion detection. When movement occurs in their viewing area, the image from these cameras will appear on the screen in front of the operator. In more complex systems, in addition to perimeter cameras, rotating video cameras are installed, which, when movement occurs, are directed to the desired area. Having assessed the situation, the operator transmits information about the violation to the duty squad, who immediately goes to the area where the violation was recorded. As a rule, 24-hour patrols are organized in the village, but if there is none, then an agreement is concluded with the nearest department of non-departmental security or a private security company, which ensures the prompt departure of employees to the site. There may be several entrances to the village (usually no more than two), which are equipped with checkpoints with barriers. To open the entrance gates, both active proximity tags of increased range, installed on the windshield of the car, and ordinary proximity cards, used for access to cottages, can be used. Proximity cards have a unique code that is almost impossible to forge. If necessary, a mobile phone can be used to open the gates — everything depends on the technical capabilities of the installed system.
Houses in a cottage village may be owned by individuals or rented out, for example, if it is a recreation center. Depending on this, the security of the cottages will be organized differently, since the conditions and set of technical means are determined by agreement with the owners. Inside the village, the fences between the houses in both cases are often symbolic and decorative in nature due to the fact that the territory is already reliably protected. In addition, a low fence creates an atmosphere of openness and comfort. However, some private owners still prefer to enclose their plots with a solid high fence.
Protection of the interior of cottages from intrusion and fire is provided by motion sensors, heat, smoke detectors and glass breakage sensors. The most common protection option is magnetic contact detectors on doors and windows and volume sensors in the premises. Acoustic sensors do not have to be installed, volume sensors are sufficient. But the loops with volume sensors will have to be disconnected when the owners are in the cottage. Then penetration through the windows will remain possible. The situation will be corrected by reed switches installed on the window frames — they will protect against intrusion by an intruder by opening the window, and the owners will hear the sound of broken glass anyway.
The security alarm system not only promptly notifies the security service of unauthorized entry or an attempt to enter the protected area by intruders, but also records the date, place and time of violation of the security boundary.
The fire alarm system allows for prompt detection of fire locations and generates control signals for fire warning systems. Fire alarms are essential if the houses in the village are wooden or made of other flammable materials. In the event of a fire, especially in windy weather, the situation becomes very dangerous, since the fire spreads rapidly and poses a threat to the entire village.
The notification of an intrusion or fire is transmitted not only to the owner of the cottage, but also to the security post. The probability of a false alarm is quite low. But any system, even the most perfect, allows for false calls. Therefore, the security service must confirm or deny any alarm signal received by the central post. The security system does not have the right to force the owner to rush to the dacha in the absence of a real threat to the property. There are various solutions to implement this task, one of which is automatic confirmation of the alarm signal before it is sent to the owner of the cottage.
Most security systems, despite their technical complexity, are simple for users and do not require training. Operators and cottage owners only need to remember the purpose of several buttons on the remote control.
If the owner of the cottage is a private individual, at his request, an LCD monitor can be installed in the cottage in any convenient place to monitor and control the security system of his cottage. The monitor is connected to the central unit of the system, which is located in a specialized security room. There can be several monitors used to display information, and an ordinary TV can serve in this capacity.
By connecting the security system to the Internet, users get the opportunity to remotely control and monitor the system from any computer on the network or using a mobile phone. The ability to assess the situation in your cottage without leaving the office or city apartment will save not only time and money, but also your nervous system.
