IFSEC2011: Security Technologies and Advanced Security Practices from Around the World.

The thirty-eighth IFSEC exhibition, which will be held from May 16 to 19 at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre in the UK, is undoubtedly one of the most significant events in the field of security.
This year, IFSEC, as always, brings together the world's leading specialists from a number of industries in the field of security, attracting the best security experts so that they can share important information and demonstrate qualitatively new technologies.
As security requirements increase, new ideas and innovative products are essential.
With a focus on showcasing cutting-edge technology, IFSEC 2011 will explore the possibilities of developing smart, high-tech innovations for the future. The IFSEC conference programme is extensive and informative. This year's CCTV and Surveillance Science Session will be chaired by Mike Hurst, Vice Chairman of Strategy at ASIS UK, who will look at the latest developments in thermal imaging and CCTV integration. Keeny Revie, Chief Technology Officer at TYCO Integrated Systems, will be talking about IP-based access control systems and a complete security solution using alarms, access control, intruders and CCTV.
The conference sessions feature a new format, bringing together managers, directors and security professionals. The sessions are designed to encourage collaboration and productive discussion. Each session is chaired by a leading industry figure, including Brian Sims, Editor of Security Management Today Online; James Willison, Principal Consultant, Proposal Management, ASIS UK; and Andrew Mason, Head of Business Continuity, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The conference will also cover corporate crime, cyber terrorism, retail security and transport security.
IFSEC will showcase a range of new products and provide a unique opportunity to try them out in action.
The IFSEC exhibition is divided into 6 blocks: access control; closed-circuit television systems; security alarms; integrated security systems/network and IP security systems; public safety and security solutions.
The highlight of IFSEC is the Intelligent Integration Zone, sponsored by Integrated Security Manufacturing Ltd (ISM), a specialist in graphical security and control solutions. The Intelligent Integration Zone promises to be a unique event that will provide an opportunity to see active integration and is a must-see for any security professional. Together with its six partners, ISM will be demonstrating how its Genesys™ systems integration software performs active integration of perimeter security, CCTV, CCTV, access control, alarms and sensors.
The main goal of the competition «Security in the Future» is to find innovative solutions in the field of security. During the event, held jointly with the Global Security Challenge, competitors will compete in real time. Participants will have to present technological innovations that can be used to protect against terrorist attacks and other criminal activities, eliminate their consequences or prevent them.
Future information security specialists will not be left out either. Over the four days of IFSEC, aspiring specialists will be able to demonstrate their skills by taking part in the Engineers of Tomorrow (UK Apprentice Skills Challenge). During the competition, participants will have to complete several tasks to test their professional skills.
In addition, the BSIA will host the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2011. These will recognise the people, products and technologies that have made a significant impact on the security industry over the past few years. The winners will be announced at a dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Monday 16th May 2011.
IFSEC 2011 is being held in the same venue as International Firex, Safety and Health Expo and The Facilities Show. For all visitors who register in advance, admission to the exhibition will be free.
