IFSEC-2009.
I would like to start this detailed announcement with a very significant figure: IFSEC-2008, let us remind you that it was the 35th anniversary exhibition, we visited 30,257 people from 125 countries.
This year, one of the most famous security exhibitions is again taking place at the exhibition center in Birmingham (UK). Dates: May 11–14. The world's largest forum will once again bring together installers, integrators, manufacturers, sellers, end users and consultants. The world's top security technology industry traditionally gathers in Birmingham. This will undoubtedly happen in 2009, despite the global financial crisis.
More than 500 leading companies have already confirmed their participation in IFSEC-2009. Among them are such well-known names as ASSA Abloy, Axis Communication, Bosch, Cisco, Dallmeier, HID, IndigoVision, JVC, LG Electronics, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Paxton Access, Samsung Techwin, Samsung Opto-Electronics U.K. (SOUK) Ltd, Sanyo, Sony, Xtralis and many others. The IFSEC-2009 program is very rich. The main interest, of course, is the exposition itself. In addition, the organizers offer participants and guests of the forum a three-day conference, the content of which covers most of the current issues in the security industry. Each day of the conference will be dedicated to a different area of security, and the sessions will be chaired by the most prominent industry experts.
The theme of the first day of the conference is “Global, national and local protection.” Chaired by David Kidd, Regional Chief of Security for the US Embassy, the panel will address key business support issues, the latest information security insights, and strategic issues in planning and operating national infrastructures.
The second day of the conference will be led by the former head of the Security Institute, Bill Wylie. The event organizers plan to devote this day to corporate security management issues. The meetings will address issues such as threats of crime and fraud among personnel, the effective work of security managers in conditions of the economic crisis and, accordingly, severe financial restrictions. The conference participants will be addressed by Steve Fowler, head of the Institute of Risk Management; Chris Brogan, Managing Director of Security International Ltd; William Beer, head of information security at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
And finally, the third day of the conference will be devoted to the problems of introducing technological innovations into practice. The rapid development of technology and the widespread introduction of innovations pose many serious questions to specialists and experts, the solution of which is an urgent need. The conference will discuss problems of interoperability of security systems, current issues related to the implementation of IP technologies, and prospects for the development of technical security systems. Leading the final day of the conference was Alex Carmichael, Technical Director of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA).
The educational program has always been the strong point of the exhibition in Birmingham. This year it has been further expanded — 150 individual seminars will be held within the framework of the forum: business seminars for those who implement security systems; seminars on business management during a crisis; optimization of emerging opportunities; developing business plans, ways to enter vertical and foreign markets and many others.
Visitors to IFSEC-2009 will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves in detail with the latest innovations in the field of security technology. The exhibition will be organized in the following categories:
IP networks and integrated systems;
access control (ACS);
CCTV;
security alarm;
fight against terrorism and physical security.
The “New Products and Technologies” exposition will also certainly attract the attention of visitors.
Also noteworthy is the Meet the Buyers event organized by the British Security Industry Association, the Fire Industry Association, the Police and Security Suppliers Association and other reputable organizations. It will be inaugurated by Prince Michael of Kent on Monday 11 May. The event will allow exhibitors to quickly connect with key buyers and decision makers from Argentina, Canada, Egypt, India, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa and Vietnam. It will also allow exhibitors and experts to explore the impact of the services provided to IFSEC exhibitors and guests on international business markets.
As James Blue, director of fire protection and safety at UBM, one of the organizers of IFSEC, noted: “We have comprehensively studied last year’s experience and will be happy to present an interesting and rich program for IFSEC-2009 to guests and participants.”
