Hybrid digital video recorders.
We continue the publication (beginning in No. 2-2010) of the review of hybrid digital video recorders (HDVR – Hybrid Digital Video Recorder) presented on the Russian market. Let us remind you that HDVR is increasingly found in the nomenclature of various manufacturers of digital recording devices. Their popularity in a number of countries is very high. Having allocated the free computing power of the DVR processor and having developed new software, manufacturers have added additional virtual IP channels to the existing analog video inputs for recording images from IP cameras. Thus, HDVR combines all the advantages of an analog (simplicity and low cost) and digital (distribution and universality) system.

Real-time recording and playback with true 4CIF resolution for each channel of both analog and network cameras. Advanced hardware H.264 compression. Auto-detection and configuration of network cameras. Integration with third-party management programs via VideoSDK. Local storage on four hard drives, accessible from the front panel. Local disk storage up to 8TB, support for iSCSI disk arrays. Control Center software for centralized viewing, playback, and remote configuration.
DM/SDAV16X90 (Dedicated Micros)
16-channel video recorder. Total recording speed up to 400 fps, MPEG4/JPEG format. Recording of up to 6 IP cameras 4 CIF. AnalyticsCapable technology enables the use of analytical solutions in the video surveillance system: stolen/abandoned items, perimeter protection, number plate recognition, object counting. Text support — capture, record and search text data for the Corresponding Object Map.
NetVu Connected technology for interaction with other NetVu Connected devices.
Control of several devices from a single SD Advanced unit. Telemetry control in coaxial and serial versions.
Easy-to-use on-screen telemetry control with Point&Go functions Oracle Dome configuration. Archiving to DVD-R and USB devices.
SIGMA-160/M (eVidence)
The SIGMA-160/M IP recorder is designed to record and broadcast up to 16 video channels with a resolution of up to 5 MPix. The professional server platform ensures a high level of stability and fault tolerance of recording systems, which allows them to be used as the central element of a video recording system at large industrial and commercial facilities.
The internal SIGMA-160/M disk array can accommodate up to 8 hard drives with a capacity of up to 2 TB with the possibility of «hot» replacement. The system operates under the control of a high-speed RAID-5 controller. In the event of a failure, the hard drive can be quickly replaced with a new one, and all previously recorded information will be automatically restored. In addition, the video recorder has two backup power supplies, each of which, in the event of a malfunction, can be removed from the case and replaced with a new one without turning off the system. The eVidence IP recorder comes with a professional software package for organizing and fully managing a distributed IP surveillance system. eVidence software has a rich set of functional capabilities and ensures maximum operator comfort and efficiency.
Hybrid DVR SymDec16Plus4 with 4/16 channels for video from IP/analog cameras and HDD up to 3 TB (GE Security)
The high-performance SymDec16Plus4 recorder with a video recording rate of 25 fps and a resolution of D1 (720×576) for each channel records video from 16 analog and 4 network cameras to a built-in HDD with a capacity of 640 GB to 3 TB. It supports the MPEG-4 video codec and, together with video, is capable of recording 4 audio channels, as well as simultaneously outputting live and/or archived images to monitors via analog BNC or digital VGA/DVI video outputs. RS-232/422/485 ports are provided for controlling PTZ cameras, and four USB ports are available for connecting a mouse and external storage devices. SymDec16Plus4 is equipped with a DVD drive, a motion detector, 16 alarm inputs, and 4 relay outputs. It connects to a 3 Mbps Ethernet network via RJ-45 and can be configured from the front panel, from an IR remote control, or remotely over the network using the standard SymNav or SymBrowser software. The video recorder operates from a 220 V power supply, and uses a unique Cooling Tunnel hard drive cooling technology to prevent overheating and HDD failure.
SymSafe Pro triplex DVRs with video recording from 8/16 analog and 2 IP cameras with a resolution of up to D1 (GE Security)
The SymSafe Pro series video recorders with 10-1000 BaseT Ethernet interface and SATA hard drives with a capacity of 640 GB to 1.5 TB record video from 8 or 16 analog and 2 IP cameras simultaneously with the output of current/archived images to monitors. They use the MPEG-4 video compression algorithm and provide a recording rate of 25 fps for each channel at a resolution of 2CIF, and at D1 (720 x 576) the speed is 12.5 fps. All SymSafe Pro models are equipped with two audio channels, a CD/DVD-RW drive, 2 USB ports for connecting a mouse, flash cards or external HDDs, and also have RS-422/485 ports for PTZ control. In addition, there is a video motion detector, 16 alarm inputs, 2 relay outputs and a remote control included. The original Cooling Tunnel cooling technology helps extend the life of hard drives. DVRs are supplied with SymNav and SymBrowser software, through the interfaces of which you can configure and manage their operation over the network. It is possible to work with «live» video and audio, search in the archive by time, date, motion and alarms with playback of what was found, etc. SymSafe Pro activates video recording by a signal from a security sensor, notifies the operator of an alarm by e-mail and exports event log data.
DS-9016HFI-S (HikVision)
DS-9016HFI-S is a new generation hybrid digital video recorder. Built on a modern platform and equipped with the H.264 codec, the DS-9016HFI-S hybrid digital recorder is reliable and productive. This recorder simultaneously supports the connection of 16 analog and 8 network video cameras, and can be used as a standard digital recorder, hybrid recorder or NVR. Up to 24 video channels. All analog channels support dual stream. All network (IP) channels of the device support resolution up to UXGA (1600×1200 pixels). Support for image protection against counterfeiting (watermarks). DVR5100 hybrid video recorders with 4/8/16 analog and 16/12/4 IP inputs (Pelco)
The DVR5100 series digital devices are capable of recording a maximum of 20 MPEG-4 video streams with a resolution of up to 4CIF and 25 fps per channel. The series includes three basic models with a fixed ratio of analog and IP cameras — 4+16, 8+12 and 16+4. All models run Linux OS and record video at a total speed of 500 fps onto hard drives with a total capacity of up to 4 TB. The DVR5100 uses the proprietary EnduraStor technology, which saves disk space by at least half due to a reduction in the frame rate of the «oldest» recordings. They are equipped with three USB ports, a CD/DVD recorder, allow you to control the PTZ functions of cameras over the network and output video with audio in real time to monitors of any type simultaneously with recording and archive search. The DVRs connect to 1000Base-T Ethernet, support server-to-server configuration, allow up to five DVR5100s to be connected to a single LAN network and access any camera or DVR for viewing and control from a single server or remote PC client. The DVR5100 can be configured over the network and integrated into Pelco Endura, as it is an Endura network system server and is fully compatible with it.
