As always happens in nature, for every clever protection there is a method that allows you to bypass it. There are many such methods, however, it is simply impossible to find a universal principle that would allow you to always remain unnoticed by security systems. For each type of security alarm, there is a special method. Let's look at the main types of security alarms and the methods that allow you to fool them.

Infrared security alarms

The most common type of security systems are the so-called motion sensors, which are called infrared detectors in scientific literature. The principle of their operation is as follows: an infrared beam combs the space in search of thermal radiation, and if it is recorded, the detector reports that an intruder has appeared within the protected perimeter. If a person crosses the area, his radiation is immediately registered by the sensor, which means that it is very difficult to pass by such a device.

Most often, infrared sensors are hung on the ceiling or on the wall. Brackets are used to secure the detectors. There are active and passive detectors. Active sensors are most often used to protect large perimeters (up to 100 meters), and passive ones are the most common type of security systems.

So how can you bypass infrared detectors, which are so popular for security?

One of the oldest and most proven methods is shielding. In order for the sensor not to detect your radiation, you should close yourself off from it. In this case, a regular sheet or a piece of glass will help you. However, it is necessary that no part of the body protrudes beyond the screen. For example, suction cups are attached to the glass surface, by which it should be held. This option only works when the intruder knows where the motion sensors are located. If the sensor is placed on the ceiling, then you should close yourself from above, and if on the wall, then from the side. You can also shield the detector itself. For example, carefully cover it with a book or fill it with spray paint. However, you will first have to get as close to the sensor as possible and remain unnoticed. Most often, acrylic, black paper, vinyl or other materials are chosen for screens. In principle, almost any surface that is placed between it and the intruder can hide the heat beam from the sensor.

The second way to remain unnoticed by the motion sensor is to move intermittently. In the instructions for the infrared detector, you can see the following line: the sensor detects a target that moves at a speed of 0.1 to 5 meters per second (some versions of sensors have an even smaller range). If you move in jerks, that is, move one or half a meter per second, and then stay in place for a couple of seconds, the motion sensor will not see you.

The third method is fundamentally different from the two above. In order for the sensor not to be triggered by movement, you should try to turn it off during the day when the security is disarmed. However, it is not always possible to get that close to the security systems. If you succeed, you need to close the loop so that the detector cannot send a signal to the receiving device installed at the security. However, you also need to be careful here. Sometimes an infrared security detector is equipped with a tamper sensor, which gives an alarm every time someone tries to open the box with the sensor. Usually, burglar sensors work around the clock, so it will not be easy to get to it even during the day.

If the infrared sensor is installed on a fence or other barrier, it can be bypassed in two ways. The first is to cut a hole in the fence. Usually, the sensor only detects attempts to climb over the fence, but it is not interested in the deformation of the fence itself. The second method is to use a stepladder, which should be one meter or at least 80 cm higher than the fence. Sensors that are installed on the fence only detect nearby thermal radiation, so if you climb over the fence higher, the detectors will not notice it. This method works great for not very high fences, for which it is enough to put a short folding ladder.

Another popular security method is magnetic contact detectors, which are also often called reed switches. The reed switch is installed on a door or window and consists of two magnets. The actuator magnet is attached to the movable part of the door or window, and the main magnet and all electronics are attached to the opening. When the magnets are coupled, the security system works. As soon as the magnets are uncoupled, an alarm signal is given.

This type of protection allows you to signal that an intruder has entered your apartment or office. It is not easy to bypass it, but it is still possible. However, you will have to prepare in advance for this. During the day, when the alarm is turned off, another magnet is attached to the magnet of the movable part of the door or window. In this case, the door does not close completely, and the security system does not turn on. Sometimes, in order to enhance the effect, in addition to the magnet, you should add something else that will prevent the activation of the detection system. A simple log will do for this purpose.

However, magnetic contact detectors are not always so easy to fool. Sometimes an inserted magnet may not only fail to unlock the security system, but may even activate it and trigger an alarm.
