Any access control system (ACS) starts with keys that are given to each user. In this case, the key in modern ACS can be cards or key fobs of various types: magnetic, Wiegand and proximity. No matter how convenient and reliable these passes are, they also have disadvantages. The main one is that cards can be lost, forgotten at home or simply stolen. But there is such a “key” that a person always carries with him — this is himself, his individual biological characteristics and, in particular, fingerprints. In addition, when identifying by fingerprints, it is the employee who is identified, not his pass, and this “key” cannot be lent to an outsider.

The ZK F7 and F702S biometric readers are designed to organize both an autonomous access control system with programming using a built-in keyboard, and to work as part of a centralized network ACS. The F7 reader has a built-in database of 600 biometric templates, and the F702S has up to 1,500. A centralized access control and management system can be organized using Russified software included in the delivery set of the readers and supporting an unlimited number of biometric devices via Ethernet or connected via RS232/485. This software provides programming of readers, input of user data taking into account access levels, real-time monitoring with the output of photographs and the generation of reports.
The F10 keyboardless biometric reader can operate as part of an ACS from any manufacturer. Like other ZKSoftware devices, it is programmed using the included Russified software via Ethernet or RS232/485 interfaces. F10 has a memory for 600 biometric templates, and can be supplemented with EM or MIFARE card readers if necessary. This device is not designed for autonomous operation, since it does not have a lock control relay or memory for storing events.
Fingerprint readers ZKSoftware F7, F702S and F10 have a Wiegand interface, which allows them to be used with any access control system that supports connecting readers via the Wiegand protocol. The output Wiegand format can be arbitrarily configured by the user with a code length from 26 to 64 bits. In addition, these biometric readers can operate in 1:N identification modes (fingerprint only) or 1:1 verification (PIN or card plus fingerprint). These devices also support user identification mode by PIN plus code (except F10).

ZKSoftware brand biometric readers are supplied with free Russified software that allows centralized configuration of devices via RS232/485 or Ethernet. With this software, you can program access levels and time zones for each employee, and it also allows you to use photo verification mode for access control. In addition, with the help of ZKSoftware software, you can perform backup and subsequent recovery of information that is recorded in the system's reader database.
Using the proprietary software, the administrator can create user settings for the Wiegand format, remotely control readers and doors, and delimit operator powers. Due to the presence of reports on passages through biometric readers, database backup and user management (adding, deleting and editing records), the simplest security system for an object can be built on the basis of this software.
