Ground surveillance radar
Ground surveillance radar EL/M-2140 by Eita Electronics Industries— is a wide-band radar that automatically detects armored vehicles, light vehicles and people. Any sector within 10 to 380° can be scanned with a selectable scan speed of up to 4 rpm. Seven scales can be used to display any scanned sectors on the display screen, including three zoom scales and a full range scale from 0 to 20 µm. The radar detects targets moving at speeds from 1.6 to 48 km/h. Limitations are related to the need to reduce frequency, false alarms due to atmospheric conditions and improve target recognition.
EL/M-2140 Radarcontains a transceiver, antenna device, display and control panel. It can be deployed by two operators in less than 10 minutes. It is installed and used in various versions: with the transceiver and antenna device installed on a platform with four support posts; as a fixed station; on a high tower or on an armored vehicle. For remote control operation, the display and control panel can be located at a distance of up to 50 m from the antenna and transceiver.
Images of the observed terrain in the form of a map are generated by the display processor and reproduced on the TV monitor screen with a diagonal size of 25 cm. The screen can additionally reproduce images selected according to the menu instructions and superimposed on the main images: a high-definition map of local objects, color images of targets with a superimposed grid of universal coordinates, graphic symbols.
The EL/M-2140 radar can be easily interfaced with other tactical systems. For this purpose, additional devices and components can be used: an optical system for complete identification, a plotter for reproducing map copies, a modem for communication and navigation devices.
