RB 12V ground radar

The RB 12V ground radar for short-range observations from Thomson-CSF Division SDC is a coherent pulse-Doppler radar for short-range ground observation (up to 6.4 km). The radar uses a J-band transmitter on semiconductor devices.

The RB 12B radar meets the requirements of military intelligence and software services for surveillance of large areas and such objects as military bases, airfields, oil production areas, weapons depots, warehouses and industrial enterprises.

The basic version of the radar contains the locator itself, a power source and a remote operator console. Although this is a mobile version, it can also be used as a stationary one.

The RB 12B automatically detects, locks on, locates and tracks moving ground or low-flying objects, pedestrians, light vehicles, trucks, light and ultra-light aircraft and helicopters. The azimuth and range of each detected object are displayed on the display screen, and the Doppler frequency of the sound in the loudspeaker or headphones allows classification of detected objects or targets.

The radar features include automatic target acquisition and tracking, target marking and homing, programmable zone surveillance, peripheral surveillance, and automatic data transmission. An optional fixed-mount version includes an electronic mapping device that overlays intruder location and tracking data onto a digital map of the area, as well as an infrared camera or a video camera on a charge-coupled device for target identification.

To take into account all customer requirements and wishes, as well as the specifics of the areas of future use, and to select the optimal radar configuration based on this, comprehensive field testing is carried out prior to serial production.
