SECURITY ESSEN-2010 Exhibition.
About 42,000 specialists from 113 countries visited the SECURITY ESSEN-2010 exhibition
The 19th international exhibition SECURITY Essen, as usual, was held at the Messe Essen exhibition complex (Essen, Germany) and was marked by new striking achievements. Judge for yourself: about 42,000 visitors had the opportunity to approach the exhibition stands of any of the 1,078 participants from 38 countries and receive full information about the specifics of operating technical security equipment, fire protection and security services. This year, significantly more visitors than ever came to Essen. The exhibition was visited by representatives of 113 countries. The share of foreigners among the exhibition participants was 46%, and this is a new unofficial exhibition record.
It is no coincidence that Frank Thorwirt, Chairman and CEO of Messe Essen, said: “The impressive results of SECURITY ESSEN confirmed its leading position in the global security sector. Such rich and effective international contacts and negotiations do not take place at any other exhibition. There was an extremely positive atmosphere throughout the entire exhibition.”
Optimistic forecasts for the development of the sector
SECURITY ESSEN-2010 truly became the most international in the history of expositions. Moreover, its participants almost unanimously noted the high competence of visitors and their willingness to invest in safety. Almost 90% of visitors to the exhibition have a decisive influence on purchasing decisions made by their companies. One in four visitors said their company intends to spend more than €250,000 on security equipment next year; almost 12% intend to invest more than 1 million euros. In general, experts in the field of industry, security and businessmen are positive about the prospects for the development of their sector. More than 70% of visitors are convinced that the economic activity of their companies will be more active in the future.
Innovative solutions
The theme of the exhibitions was very relevant. Many participants presented new interesting developments. For example, we can name innovative systems that provide access control by recognizing fingerprints and capillaries on the fingers. HD technology was widely introduced, providing higher resolution and image quality for video surveillance systems. There was great interest in solutions that ensure safety in schools, such as special emergency exit doors and sound systems.
There were a lot of premieres at the exhibition. The most innovative developments were rewarded with the Security Innovation Award from Messe Essen.
System solutions
Measures to ensure corporate, physical, fire and IT security in many companies are a single whole. In this regard, there is a constant need to develop new system solutions that take into account the interests of all security subjects.
And such solutions were seen by visitors to SECURITY ESSEN -2010. For example, more than 100 companies presented a full range of structural and installation technologies. And in the fire-fighting segment, mobile fire protection equipment was announced. In general, fire safety equipment was presented at the exhibition by more than 230 companies.
In the thematic section “IT security”, as well as in open forums, specialists were able to get acquainted with new information technologies and, using specific examples of installations and new developments, trace their increasingly close connection with solving security problems.
Peter Hohl, organizer of the thematic section, noted: “If a hacker, by breaking into a cylinder lock and connecting his laptop, can penetrate a bank’s computer, removing printer information from bank statements, this indicates an urgent need to combine classical and IT security.” .
In addition, the exhibition became a platform for an interested and constructive exchange of views. Speakers and participants in open forums, of which there were many held during the exhibition, discussed the most pressing issues in the industry, such as: protection against intrusion, IP video surveillance systems, new modifications of locks and personal security, access control tools and systems, etc. .d.
For the first time, SECURITY ESSEN hosted a symposium on innovative security technologies, which was attended by leading international experts in the fields of politics, industry, economics and science. The speeches of the Minister of Justice of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Thomas Kuchata, and the Chief Executive Officer of the European Organization for Security (EOS), Dr. Luigi Rebuffi, aroused great interest.
Ahead — 20th Anniversary Exhibition
The 20th SECURITY ESSEN exhibition will take place from 25th to 28th September 2012. There are two years of painstaking work ahead to prepare this significant event in the life of the industry. But already 93% of visitors and 94% of participants have expressed a desire to be at the next exhibition in Essen.
Feedback from exhibitors
Gert van Yperen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bosch Sicherheitssysteme GmbH: -With visitors coming from all over the world, SECURITY ESSEN has once again confirmed its international character, which is an excellent indicator of the dynamic development of the sector and clearly shows the growth potential predicted for the next few years. Highly popular at our stand were the new line of HD video systems and the fire alarm system, which uses innovative dual-beam technology to detect fires at a very early stage. Ghiocchino Tommaselli, Chief Strategy Officer of GPS STANDARD S.P.A., Arnad, Italy:
— In our opinion, compared to the previous exhibition, the competence and internationality of visitors has increased. For example, many visitors came from Iran. In general, the exhibition received the most positive reviews. We believe that SECURITY ESSEN has become one of the most significant events in the industry.
Volker Bachmann, art director for corporate image at KABA GmbH:
— The SECURITY ESSEN exhibition was very useful for us. According to our calculations, this exhibition is larger in scale compared to the previous one, and the quality of the SECURITY ESSEN exhibition is also noticeably improving. This exhibition is extremely important for us, and we will definitely take part in it next time.
Martin Riebschlager, CEO of Wisag:
— Technology alone is not enough to ensure effective protection. The simultaneous operation of safety systems and qualified personnel is necessary. As for our stand, services provided to company personnel and corporate security services were in great demand. The exhibition allows you to continue the dialogue with customers and attract new ones. And there was widespread interest in our reports at the forum. Visitors were also interested in our services that use the assistance of dogs. Larry Thomas, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Protech/Protection Technologies, Inc.:
— The visitors were very knowledgeable. In fact, our first visitor on Tuesday was potentially ready to recoup all of our expenses for the exhibition. Our company takes part in the SECURITY ESSEN exhibition, which is expanding every year, since the beginning of the 90s. At the moment, this is the most cost-effective event in which we participate.
Dr. Harald Olshok, Chief Executive Officer Bundesverband Deutscher Wach- und Sicherheitsunternehmen e.V. (BDWS — Federal Association of German Security and Security Companies» and Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Geld- und Wertdienste (BDGW — Federal Association of German Money and Value Carriers).— Representatives of the BDWS and BDGW Associations are very pleased with the SECURITY ESSEN exhibition. It served as a successful start to another special exhibition called “Protection, Security & Service”. The new principle of placing exhibition stands and additional displays turned out to be very successful. Negotiations focused on security policy issues, such as the debate between Reiner Wendt, Chairman of the Deutsche Polizeigewerkschaft (German Police Union), and Wolfgang Waszulewski, President of the BDWS Association.
Michael Brotz, Head of Marketing and Communications, Siemens AG, Construction Technologies Division, Germany:
— There were a lot of visitors. They came to the stand, asked specific questions, proposed specific projects, and also looked for possible solutions. The greatest interest was generated by biometrics solutions and video surveillance systems. In the field of fire safety, the main topic is the development of new technologies. In addition, the focus was on developing comprehensive approaches and merging technologies. About a third of the visitors to our stand were foreigners, with a larger number of visitors from Eastern Europe. The topic of possible cooperation was repeatedly raised. Visitors from Germany also showed high competence.
Dr. Wolfram Krause, Chief Executive Officer of the BVFA – “Bundesverband technischer Brandschutz e.V.” (Federal Association of Fire Safety Equipment):
— The SECURITY ESSEN exhibition is on the right path to its establishment as a trade and industrial exhibition of fire safety products. It was attended by many influential people working in the security sector. This — potential customers of companies included in our Association, so we are very pleased with the connections established during the exhibition.
Thomas Gein, Head of Marketing and Communications at Gunnebo Group:
— The number of visitors and their competence again pleasantly surprised. We are very pleased with the results of the exhibition. At SECURITY ESSEN many new target groups could be found, belonging, for example, to the banking and retail sectors. In addition to them, our traditional customers also approached us at the exhibition. Visitors are showing increasing interest in solutions, while it is important to note that customers today are primarily interested in comprehensive security services.
Nicole Huffer, Marketing and Sales Manager, Simons Voss :
— SECURITY ESSEN is currently our most important exhibition and serves as the ideal platform to showcase our entire product range. We are very pleased with the results of the exhibition and would like to express our deep gratitude to its organizers. We're sure to see you again in 2012!
Jan Witte, General Director, Minimax GmbH & Co. KG»:
— SECURITY ESSEN was the perfect opportunity for us to showcase our innovative products in the fire safety sector. We also took advantage of the opportunity to meet our customers and stakeholders and establish closer contacts with them. As at the previous exhibition, we held many interesting discussions at a high level.
