Esser by Honeywell introduces the new DTS linear thermal fire detector.

The DTS system's application possibilities go beyond the functions of conventional linear thermal fire detectors. DTS is able not only to quickly and reliably detect various types of fires, but also to accurately localize the fire within a few meters. At the same time, air flows have virtually no effect on the system's operation, since not only convection heat is analyzed, but also radiant energy. In addition, it is possible to monitor the size of the fire and the direction of its spread over a long period of time, since the sensor cable can withstand temperatures of up to 1000 °C without losing its functionality. Thanks to this, it is possible to effectively monitor the effectiveness of fire prevention measures in real time.
The linear thermal fire detector measures the localized temperature profile along optical fibers over several thousand meters with a measurement interval of 10 seconds. This technology is based on the quantum-mechanical Raman effect and a patented correlation measurement technique.
The scope of the DTS system is transport system facilities (bridges, tunnels), industrial enterprises, power plants and any facilities with hard-to-reach areas or areas with aggressive environments. Compared with traditional linear detectors using the principle of a thermal sensor cable, the DTS system has the following advantages:
