Entrance video intercoms
Entrance video intercom refers to access control systems for premises designed for use in a small office, apartment or residential building. There are several types of implementations in which entrance video intercoms are used. They can be installed at the entrance to the entrance, near the elevator, at the entrance to the apartment.
Video monitor — the main thing that makes up entrance video intercoms. The monitor has a small screen, which can be either black and white or color, from 4 to 6 inches or more in size, a button for viewing images from connected video cameras and a button for opening the lock. Typically, a video monitor is installed indoors and mounted on a wall; some models have a mortise design. With its help, you can talk to the visitor and open the door for him, if necessary. Mortise intercoms of video intercoms are more difficult to install and more difficult to dismantle, and therefore have greater vandal resistance compared to similar models of surface-mounted installation. However, they also have disadvantages. A mortise panel of a video intercom cannot be installed everywhere, this is due to the fact that in some cases the visitor may not be within the range of the camera lens. Surface-mounted intercoms of video intercoms are somewhat inferior to mortise ones in terms of vandal-proof qualities, but they are easier to install. For audio communication, as a rule, a handset is used, which is included in the delivery set; in some models it is missing and the conversation is conducted in speakerphone mode. Almost every video intercom in the apartment is equipped with volume, brightness and contrast adjustment, in color models — also color saturation. The video monitor allows you to view the image from the video panel camera, which can be useful when leaving the room or if suspicious situations arise at the front door.
Model for entrance installation and video intercom for an apartmentequipped with a call panel, which is installed on the entrance door, has a built-in miniature video camera with infrared illumination and a call button. The possibilities of using call panels vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Models designed for outdoor installation are especially common. They are characterized by increased strength and can operate in almost any weather conditions. Call panels can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted, with a black-and-white or color video camera, and can work with one or more video monitors.
More complex models allow you to connect additional video cameras to expand the controlled area or allow several video monitors to be connected in parallel. Basic models include a regular video intercom for an apartment — special interface boards are inserted, allowing you to receive calls from entrance panels in accordance with the set apartment number. As a rule, such models also allow you to connect individual calling devices, one or two additional video cameras, some are equipped with built-in video memory. At the moment, interface boards with entrance call panels support only black and white video intercoms, soon the appearance of corresponding developments for color models is expected. It is worth mentioning separately that black and white video intercoms, in their technical characteristics, are in no way inferior to color ones, the only drawback is the inability to distinguish color details, a smaller screen size, however, the ability to adjust the brightness and contrast of the image black and white video intercoms is no worse than that of color ones, in addition, their cost is somewhat lower.
