It would not be an exaggeration to say that every person today is familiar with turnstiles. We encounter them constantly — in stores, in public transport, at checkpoints in offices, in educational or government institutions, in fitness centers and in other public places. The models of these devices are numerous and varied, and their main function is to control the flow of people at the entrances and exits of various facilities. In this article, we want to talk about the products of the Brazilian company Digicon, namely the Catrax line of turnstiles, which includes three-bar models Catrax Fit and Catrax Plus, the Catrax Clip turnstile-gate, as well as the three-bar pedestal model Catrax Master.
Digicon devices are distinguished by their low price, comparable to the prices of domestic manufacturers, high throughput and thoughtful ergonomic design. At the same time, Digicon turnstiles have an increased service life due to the use of electromagnetic blockers instead of solenoid ones, and the use of optical rotation sensors allows avoiding their mechanical wear. On average, each device in the series has a mean time between failures of about 1,000,000 cycles. In addition, Digicon turnstiles have LED pictograms to visualize passage permission, and their plastic top covers can be made in different colors at the customer's request. The devices are powered from an alternating current source with a voltage of 220 V.
The most budget model of the series is the Catrax Fit tripod turnstile, which, due to its small size, can be installed in a narrow passage or in an arch. These turnstiles are also effective in cases where it is necessary to block a wide passage with several small devices. The presence of a built-in control unit allows you to implement any logic of the Catrax Fit: adjustable passage in both directions, adjustable passage only in one direction or free passage in both directions, which, together with control inputs/outputs, allows you to use the tripod as part of any ACS. In addition, this device can be additionally equipped with Proximity or Smart Card access card readers. The main difference between the Catrax Plus model and the Catrax Fit is the ability to install a card reader for one-time passes on the turnstiles. The Catrax Clip turnstile gate is designed specifically for the safe passage of disabled people or wheelchairs, as well as for the transportation of various large-sized cargo. When designing it, increased requirements for the strength of the stand were taken into account, due to which the turnstile can withstand numerous collisions with the wheels of trolleys and wheelchairs. For increased safety, all corners of the Catrax Clip stand are rounded.
The Catrax Master tripod pedestal turnstile has a robust and stable design and at the same time is distinguished by its very small dimensions and weight. Two columns located on the sides of this turnstile provide space for placing internal equipment and for devices for integration with other systems in the building. If necessary, the Catrax Master tripod can be additionally equipped with two RFID card readers, as well as a card receiver, installed under the top cover of the device.
