The EY3600 novaPro Open automation and control system in the Manege.
After the fire in March 2004, the building was completely restored, reconstructed and modernized.
One of the fundamental differences between the renovated Manege and the old one is that it has a modern automation system. The new Manege is controlled by the EY3600 novaPro Open system from SAUTER.
Despite the fact that the unique objects are completely different from each other, a number of characteristic features inherent in such objects can be identified:
• high requirements for the location of equipment.
Modern equipment, having its own style and design, should be located so that, on the one hand, it fully performs its functions, and on the other hand, does not disturb the interiors of the building.
• increased requirements for the noise created by the equipment.
This is especially relevant in music and opera theaters, concert halls, but in the exhibition hall, extraneous noise should not interfere with visitors contemplating works of art, etc.
• the rooms in such buildings are used in very different modes.
For example, the halls are empty most of the time, but at certain times they are filled with a large number of people.
The automation system must operate in such a way as to provide both comfortable conditions when the halls are filled, and an economical mode when there are no people.
The BMS structure is shown in Fig. 1. This system is integrated and includes the following subsystems:
• control of all engineering equipment, including ventilation, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems;
• internal and external lighting systems (main and backup);
• thermal curtains;
• gate control;
• drainage systems;
• snow melting systems.
Basically, the control system is built on Nova Flex and Nova 230 controllers from SAUTER.
Nova 230 performs both the functions of engineering equipment control and the functions of gateways for the MODBUS protocol, which is used as a communication medium for ICP DAC controllers (models 17520, 17053, 17060) that control lighting.
The NovaPro Open SCADA system has about 5,000 data points.
The second computer performs the “hot standby” function.
The architectural features of the building imposed a number of restrictions on the location of engineering equipment. For example, ventilation units are located under the roof in compartments between the trusses, which are an exact copy of the famous Betancourt trusses.
The lighting control system also has a number of features.
“Manezh”, located in the very center of Moscow, must be illuminated taking into account special requirements for lighting design and form a single ensemble with the lighting of Manezhnaya Square.
The design, including the automation project, was carried out by the design institute “MOSPROEKT-2”. The automation system of the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall was completed on a turnkey basis by the Engineering Center of the SAUTER company – NTP Uniservice.
